| The TEACH Grant program will be implemented during the 2008-2009 academic year for only those students working on their first master's degree. Financial Aid and Scholarships will contact eligible students in the fall. This new program was created to assist students that are seeking degrees in high-need fields and anticipate teaching in those fields at the secondary or elementary level. Students will be eligible to receive up to $4,000 per year, but must meet the following conditions: |
Students that choose to participate in this program must agree to serve as a full-time teacher in a high-need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves low-income students. If a student fails to meet the requirements of the service obligation, the TEACH Grant will convert to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. The student will then be required to repay the loan to the U.S. Department of Education. The student will also be charged interest from the date the grant was disbursed. Students may review more information about the obligations at www.teachgrant.ed.gov.
