The following is a list of some of the other scholarships Texas State offers to freshman students. These freshman scholarships are awarded competitively and require the submission of a scholarship application.  Awards are based on the overall strength of your scholarship application. For information regarding scholarships awarded by your college or academic department, be sure to contact the appropriate dean and/or chair's office

Athena Scholarship for Women

$3,000

  • 2.5 GPA
  • Financial need
  • Female
  • Single
  • Custody of at least one dependent who is 17 years of age or younger

CenturyTel Scholarship

 $2,000

  • Academic achievement, leadership and involvement in extra-curricular activities
  • Top 25% of high school graduating class with commensurate SAT/ACT scor

C.J. "Red" Davidson Scholarship

 $2,500

  • Academic achievement, leadership and involvement in extra-curricular and volunteer activities

Foster Care Initiative Scholarship

Varies

  • 2.0 Texas State GPA
  • 2.0 each semester to retain the scholarship
  • Financial need
  • Enroll for at least 9 hours. However, students who enroll full-time will be given preference.
  • In state conservatorship with the Texas Department of Human Services, Protective and Regulatory Services, on or before your 18th birthday and must provide Texas State with a letter confirming this status

Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo Scholarship

Varies

  • Minimum high school GPA of 90%
  • Top 25% of high school graduating class
  • Minimum SAT/ACT score of 800/18
  • Leadership qualities
  • Financial need
  • Must be from one of 190 selected countries in Texa
  • Any scholarship or combination of scholarships awarded by Texas State cannot exceed the cost of attendance.
